in search of the humboldt squid

Yesterday we went for a walk on the beach with some friends in hopes of finding a washed-up giant squid. We didn't find one, but we did find a dead seal, a small dead ray, and lots of shells and sand dollars. I forgot to take my camera, but took some shots of Lucca sorting his loot (we left the dead animals at the beach) later in the back yard.

Lucca was especially taken with the sand dollars, and played with them for quite a while.

Here we have sand dollar sandwich and sand dollar telephone.

You may have noticed that I haven't been the best blogger in the whole wide world, lately. That is, if I still have any readers out there? (Sarah, I know you're there!) Well, I'm planning to do better. I know, I know, you've heard it all before... but really, this time I mean it. Probably. I'll do my best.

I have heard the call, I know what you want.
MORE LUCCA!!
