in related news, lucca has recently started to (sometimes) sleep in his big boy bed, in an entirely different room... this was quite a shock to carlo and me, because all it took was just telling him one day that he could sleep there if he wanted to. this after we've had many discussions pondering how to make the transition, worrying about him being so far away (all of about 15 feet, in our tiny house) and so on.... nothing like a child to point out how slowly we adults move.
