birthday sleeper/ladybug liberator

Today we went to our friend Edie's 1st birthday party, and fun was had by all... here are a couple of pictures of Soren sleeping on a friend:

And later this evening Lucca and I released a bunch of ladybugs in our garden:

And that's the Saturday news from the Del Frate homestead!

stats

In the past few weeks both boys have visited the pediatrician, and both were declared healthy and perfect (ok, she didn't actually use the word "perfect," but I'm sure she was thinking it.)

Here are their stats:

Lucca at 3 1/2 years
  • Height: 90th percentile
  • Weight: 97th percentile
  • BMI (??): 95th percentile
Soren at 10 weeks
  • Length: 97th percentile
  • Weight: 97th percentile
  • Head: 92nd percentile

Conclusion: they're big.

breakfast conversation

(Lucca was rubbing his eye.)

L: Did you ever think about something in your eye....something like a tornado?

N: Do you have something in your eye?

L: No, I was just thinking about what if you had a tornado in your eye.

N: Wow, a tornado in your eye. How would that feel?

(pause)

L: Tornado-y.

time keeps on slipping into the future

Today was Lucca's first day of preschool.

Today it's been 12 weeks since Soren was born.

I'm not sure what else to say. Part of me is so excited to see how they are growing and who they are becoming, and part of me wants to hold on tight, say stop! I'm not done with who you were yesterday yet!

*sigh*
It's been an emotional day for me. I was so nervous about Lucca going to school, but he wasn't upset when I left him there, and when I picked him up he was happy and said he had a fun time. After dropping him off, I drove around aimlessly for half an hour with a sleeping Soren in the car, and finally went grocery shopping, where I almost started crying while telling a checker I'm acquainted with that today was Lucca's first day.

slow down, slow down!
But I don't want to put that message out into the universe, so I will say also that I am so lucky, so crazy lucky, to have these two big, bright, beautiful boys that are speeding, racing on ahead of me.
Race on! I'll try to keep up.
